Tuesday Rec League

League Details

Attention Disc Golfers.  We’re looking forward to this year’s disc golf summer league, running May – September.  Early registration helps us to cover the upfront costs, so we ask if you are able, to register early.

When?

We will play on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm, starting May 12th, and playing until the end of September. Later in the summer, we will start at 6:00 pm (starting Week 15) to ensure the rounds get completed before sundown.

Who Can Play?

We want to be as inclusive as possible.  Anyone at any skill level can play, but if young children want to play, we ask that their parents take responsibility and, if they want to play with the group, adhere to the rules, the same as anyone else.  Our play is relaxed, so if you are a strong player or beginner, we want it to be accessible and fun for all.

Where?

Marsh Pond Park, at the corner of Lorne Ave. and St. Vincent St. In Stratford.

Costs

The cost of joining the league is $75 for the 2026 season.  This includes your membership in the Ontario Disc Sports Association, your insurance for league play, a disc golf towel (for keeping those discs clean and dry on rainy days), and a mini marker.

Format

We will meet by the first tee each week, breaking into groups of 3 or 4.  From there, the groups will go out and play two full rounds of the course, first from the red tees and then from the blue tees.  Live scoring is done via the UDisc app.  After play concludes for the week, points are assigned, and the leaderboard is updated.

This season, we will alternate between 2 layouts. During odd-numbered weeks, we will play to the pink baskets, and during even-numbered weeks, we will play to the silver baskets.

Weekly Scoring

We will be changing up the scoring this year to gamify a few new things and make it more fun for players of all skill levels, while still rewarding good play in absolute terms. As such, there are several independent areas where players can gain points to take home one of the various prizes at the season’s end. These are:

League Champion

Any player who completes at least 14 league rounds can qualify. The winner will be the player with the lowest score based on their 14 best rounds.

The Islander

A player gets an Islander point when their disc comes to rest on the island (hole 6) during league play. If they make the island on both the front and back 9, then there is a bonus point awarded, for a maximum of 3 Islander points per player, per week. Islander points are only available during regularly scheduled league play.

The Gambler

A player gets a gambler point for each time they pass through the second triple mando from their tee shot (excluding rollers). A bonus point is awarded if the player does this on both the front and back 9, for a maximum of 3 gambler points available per week.

CTP

Each week, one hole will be designated for the closest-to-the-pin competition. Players will have two shots (one on the front 9 and one on the back 9) to win each week. 3 points will be awarded to the player landing closest to the pin, and 1 point will be awarded to the player with the next closest disc to the pin (and yes, in theory, you could get both in one week). CTP points are only available during regularly scheduled league play.

The Big Cheese

We will be using a handicapped scoring system this season, which will give you a handicap of up to your last 5 rounds. Your weekly scores will be judged against your handicap. The player with the best handicap-adjusted score each week will be awarded 5 Cheese points. The runner-up will get 3 points, and the second runner-up will receive 1 point. Available during both regular league play and make-up rounds.

Ace

Players who hit an ace during league play will be awarded 5 ace points. Players who draw metal will receive 1 point.
